The First Rose of Summer

Partly inspired by a short passage from the book Petrolio by Pier Paolo Pasolini this dance solo deals with the subject of duality, and ambiguity of the self. The body is moved by intimate and concealed voices that live in one’s personal underground, to the point of unravelling the boundaries of our tidy appearance.

Föhn

Föhn is a warm, strong, stormy wind coming from the mountains.
Föhn is an improvised event performed in a specific setting in time and space. Föhn does not exclude the possibility of other times and other spaces.

Sound: Matt Davis

Performed at Middlesex University , London

La danza grave

This video dance work is also an attempt to find movement in apparent stillness; to find stillness in rotational movement around the body's axis. The aesthetic is inspired by the feminine sculptures of ancient tribal civilizations which celebrated the sacred Mother Goddess and her fertile womb.

Fugitive Moments

Central to my practice are the body-mind phenomenon, self-awareness, senses and perceptions. The body through improvised movement becomes the 'passage' to Nature and to the Unknown. It is the board for a deeper sense of self. Unconscious impulses, sensations and imagination are embodied and rendered through a process which is informed by cultural identity, personal history, memory, phenomenology, non-ordinary states of consciousness,  myths and folklore. My performances are usually set within dynamic choreographic structures and keep the focus always to the present moment. Often provocative they aim to liberate the body, embracing an authentic and organic attitude towards the body, movement and the environment in post-industrial age.
