Born in Rome (1981), I moved to London in 2004. I have been researching on dance, movement and the body for the last 10 years, starting in Italy by training in contemporary dance, physical theatre, dance improvisation, mime and Strasberg Method. I performed in several dance works and interdisciplinary plays, among which Barricate (2003), with the company 6.68 Controchiave Danza and as an actress in Mountain’s language (2004) produced by Associazione Culturale Controchiave in Rome.
Trained extensively in Japanese Butoh dance with Alessandro Pintus, Atsushi Takenouchi, Masaki Iwana and Alessandra Cristiani, I than gained a Degree First Class Hons in Dance Studies at Middlesex University in London in 2007. In my dissertation, Dance and philosophies of embodiment: bringing body to mind, I investigate the western body/mind split in relation to some contemporary dance practices which promote a mindful body and an embodied mind. Following my degree I have trained and attended seminars at Independent Dance in London with Gill Clarke, Gaby Agis, Giovanni Felicioni, Miranda Tufnell, Robert Anderson. I am currently training in Authentic Movement and Therapeutic Presence with Linda Hartley at the Institute for Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapy (IBMT).
From 2007 I collaborate with Improviser musician Matt Davis. Main productions are: Fugitive Moments (2010), a durational performance of experimental dance and music performed at the Zed Shed in Cornwall, Loscena (2010) a first study for a dance solo performed at the Festival 'Effetti di Movimento' in Rome, The First Rose of Summer (2009) a dance solo selected for Mix Tape Night ’09 platform, at The Keay Theatre, St Austell, Cornwall, The woman and the well (2007), a dance/music improvisation presented at Nolias Gallery in London for ‘Forward Culture’; Fhön (2007), dance/music duo performed at Lakeview Theatre, Middlesex University; La danza grave (2007), a video-dance piece;
My practice explores embodiment and body/mind awareness and focuses on moving from the inside-out. I currently live and work in Cornwall where I lead workshops to encourage people tuning up with their bodies in movement as a route towards creative expression and personal growth.
